Bridge

When a tooth is missing, it can cause a chain reaction of problems. Surrounding teeth may shift, causing stress to your jaw joint (TMJ) when you chew. It's much harder to clean teeth that have shifted, therefore harmful tartar can build up causing cavities and gum disease.

A bridge fills in this space, using the adjacent teeth for support. These teeth will be reduced and contoured, and then we'll make a precise impression of your teeth. Using this impression, a dental lab will make a model, and it's on this model that your bridge is created. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

Crowns

A crown is a custom-made restoration that completely covers your tooth.

Crowns not only repair and strengthen a damaged tooth; they can also be used to improve your appearance by covering a discolored or misshapen tooth.

You may need a crown if:

• Your tooth has fractured • An old crown or filling has failed • You have had root canal therapy • You have a very large cavity • You’ would like to improve a tooth’s appearance

Braces

There are a number of reasons why your child's dentist may have suggested orthodontic treatment. For example, your child's teeth may have a "bad bite" referred to as malocclusion; this is a condition in which teeth are crowded, crooked, or out alignment and the jaws may not meet properly. A malocclusion may be present even though teeth may appear straight.

Malocclusion, which can include problems such as the crowding, spacing, protrusion of teeth, and the presence of jaw problems, may be inherited. Malocclusion may also be acquired; an inherited malocclusion is complicated by an acquired problem.

All dentists are taught to treat some minor orthodontic problems. If your child's dentist thinks you should see a specialist for treatment, he or she will refer you to an orthodontist. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

White Restorations

picture

Silver and Gold fillings used to be our only choices for restoring your damaged or decayed teeth but advances in dental materials technology created strong new synthetic tooth-colored restorative materials that help you look your best.

If you decide you would like your tooth restored with a white material, we can use either porcelain or composite resin, which is a plastic-like substance. We’ll carefully match the chosen material to your natural teeth, so the restoration will blend in well.

Both porcelain and composite resin bond securely to your tooth, so the restorations are extremely strong and durable. Also, because they are bonded, we can be more conservative when we prepare your tooth for the filling, so you retain more of your natural, healthy tooth

Bonding

Bonding involves the artistic placement of a tooth-colored plastic material to front teeth to enhance their color, shape or size.

You can have one tooth re-created with bonding, or we can transform your entire smile!

Bonding also protects your teeth from additional wear and damage.

Bonding may be the perfect option if you have:

• Spaces between your teeth • Small or misshapen teeth • Teeth that have darkened or discolored.

Whitening

Home whitening is an easy way to get a dazzling white smile!

New techniques and whitening gels make it possible to significantly lighten and brighten your teeth. The amount of time it takes varies from person to person but usually you will see results within a week.

Root Canal Treatment

picture

Root canal treatment usually involves the removal of the tooth’s pulp, a small thread-like tissue that was important for tooth's development.

Once removed, it is replaced with materials that seal the root canal from its supporting structures. Years ago, diseased or injured teeth were often extracted.

Today, even if the pulp of one of your teeth becomes injured or infected, it often can be saved through a root canal (endodontic) treatment. Endodontics is the area of dentistry concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases or injuries to the dental pulp.

Porcelain Veneer

picture

Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are fabricated with the help of a dental laboratory.

They generally cover tops and front of teeth. Veneers can be used to whiten teeth as well as to correct problems like chipped, misshapen, crooked or worn teeth.

Periodontal Disease

picture

Periodontal (gum) Disease is an infection of the teeth, gums and bone.

It’s caused by plaque, the sticky film of food and bacteria that forms constantly on your teeth. You may have gum disease, and not even know it because it’s rarely painful in its early stages.

If bone tissue is destroyed, your teeth can loosen. So let us know if you have persistent bad breath, if your gums are swollen, soft or tender, or if they bleed when you brush or floss. If we diagnose gum disease early, we can stop the destruction and save your teeth.

We specialize in TMJ

The TMJ or temporomandibular joint is the hinge that connects the jaw to the head; it joins the temporal bone of the skull with the mandible bone of the jaw. The relationship of the jaw to the head is determined by the jaw joint, the muscles that open and close the jaw and support the head, and the teeth.

Any problem that prevents the complex system of muscles, ligaments, discs and bones from working together properly may result in a TM disorder.

TMJ Symptoms

Common symptoms include migraines, earaches, ringing in the ears, stuffiness in the ears, pain behind the eyes, shoulder and lower back pain, cervical spine posture abnormalities.

TMJ Diagnosis

For correct diagnosis of TMJ dysfunction a variety of special techniques are implemented including the following: X-rays, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), BioEMGII, The BioJVA and JT-3D Computerized Jaw Tracking.

TMJ Treatment

If you or anyone you know has symptoms of TMJ, early detection can avoid damage to your joints. A dentist is the only clinician trained to work with the dental bite and the relationship of the jaw to the head.

The goal of TMJ treatment is to unstress the jaw joint, reduce muscle spasm, and improve body posture while simultaneously repositioning the jaw in a more physiologically correct position in relation to the head.
